Who I Am

I, Flash – né Herman Gordon, am a semi-pro photographer.  This means that I work a real job and moonlight as a paid photographer.  I love both jobs and I need them both to support my family.  I live and work in Tucson, Arizona.

Ward Cunningham, inventer of the Wiki concept, gave me both my nickname and my start in photography.  He stuck a roll of Tri-X in his Pentax SLR and sent me off to take pictures.  When I came back, we set up a darkroom at night in his kitchen, and he showed me how to make prints.  It all came naturally from day 1, and the essential art hasn’t changed.  What has developed is my appreciation for the problem solving and myriad considerations that go into a photograph.
